A true sequel will begin to see the outbreak of influenza A (H1N1) in most country's tourist economy, Quintana Roo, where Cancun's hotel occupancy and the Riviera Maya collapsed 45 and 55 percentage points to reach a desolate 22% and 17% in the second week of May this year.
Experts predict that although it will be achieved fully control the virus, the sequel to the fear of foreign tourists to travel to Mexico could be kept dormant for several months.
Preliminary data from the Ministry of Tourism of Quintana Roo show that Gran Turismo hotels in Cancun recorded lower occupancy in the second week of May over the same period in 2008, going from 62.4% to 18.9%.
